Ever Seen an Eskimo Surf?

With a name like eskimosoup you can probably already tell we’re not your average run of the mill marketing company, we are always looking for ways to get our creative juices flowing in everything we do. We take this ethos beyond our 9-5 work …that’s why our staff get togethers are usually beyond the norm.

As a company once a month we make a conscious effort to do something fun outside of work, this month we hit the beach and went surfing (if that’s what you can call it).

Our resident photographer and tech expert Phill Wilson is a keen surfer and took us all up to Scarborough’s North Bay to catch some North Sea waves. As usual our competitive natures resulted in an exhausting two hour long battle in which none of us would give up on the fact we couldn’t master the art of surfing in a day.

Though hat’s off to our MD Chris, Technical Director George, and graphic designer Shane who all did manage to get to their feet (even if it was to be followed seconds later by complete wipeouts).

Not to be out done by the boys us girls decided it was life or death that we get to our feet with style and grace, unfortunately mine and admin assistant Katie S’s surf boards had a murderous streak which meant we did nearly meet a watery grave.

However creative director Hannah and Sally our marketing director’s wife redeemed our sorry efforts by boarding into shore effortlessly, and when I say effortlessly by no means do I mean desperately clinging to their boards on their hands and knee’s squealing at the top of their voices.

All in all it was a great day out and one that we will be doing again. So if you’re ever at Scarborough’s North Bay keep an eye out, as you might just catch a glimpse of an Eskimo surfing.

Next month pole dancing?
